How can I change how Auto Blocker categorizes and blocks scripts?
Updated this week

Termly’s Auto Blocker automatically detects, categorizes, and blocks the majority of third-party tracking mechanisms from being delivered to your website visitors until they have given their consent.

You can customize Auto Blocker’s categorizations by either using manual blocking or a custom blocking map. Both of these options will allow you to set your own custom blocking behavior and override the defaults from Auto Blocker.

If you decide to use both manual blocking and a custom blocking map, manual blocking will override the custom blocking map.

Recategorizing cookies in your dashboard does not impact Auto Blocker behavior. The dashboard categorization only affects your cookie policy and cookie preference center.

Customize Auto Blocker's behavior

Manual blocking can be used to recategorize, block, or unblock a single script. A custom blocking map can be used to to recategorize, block, or unblock all scripts from a specific domain.

For example, a domain may be serving multiple scripts that Auto Blocker has classified as “advertising”, but you believe should be classified as “analytics.” A custom blocking map can recategorize all the scripts from that domain as “analytics” in a single step.
